5 Autumn Things to Do in Portland

Autumn in Portland, Oregon means glorious colorful leaves, bountiful Saturday Market produce, and the beginning of crisp (ok, we mean cold) weather. Ask anyone who lives here and fall is one of those times that makes you glad to be a resident of the Rose City. Here are a few favorite fall activities suggested by Guardian staff:

1. Buy some autumn produce at the Portland Saturday Market. 

The market is open from March through Christmas Eve, and fall is truly one of the best times to take advantage of the amazing local produce we find here in Oregon.

2. Visit Council Crest Park.

Though boasting beautiful views of the city and surrounding mountains all year, the autumn foliage makes the view from Council Crest particularly beautiful in the fall.

3. Brave the Sauvie Island Corn Maze.

Located at Bella Organic Farms on Sauvie Island just north of Portland, the Sauvie Island corn maze is open from late August through Halloween. The theme changes each year but the 3.2 mile corn maze is an autumn staple in Portland. Pick up a couple pumpkins while you're at it.

4. Take in the leaves at Multnomah Falls.

Fall is a particularly beautiful time to visit this famous Oregon landmark. Be sure to take a warm jacket.

5. Explore as many of Portland's local coffee roasters as possible.
