Rockwood Station and Fairview Oaks Celebrate National Night Out

First celebrated in 1984, National Night Out has now become a nationwide movement that partners neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement agencies, businesses, and citizens to promote safe communities for all.

Almost 30 years later, NNO events are held in 15,000 cities in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian provinces, and military bases across the world. Over 37 million people participate in events like block parties, cookouts, rallies, marches, and youth events to send a message of cooperation and safe neighborhoods.

National Night Out 2013 was held on August 6th, and two Guardian communities in Gresham, Oregon turned out in full force to show support. Rockwood Station and Fairview Oaks-Woods participated in block parties with law enforcement officials, local businesses, and other residents. Not only did they have a great time, but their residents had the opportunity to create bonds that will improve communication and a build a strong sense of community.
