Guardian Team members in the Portland Metro
Area attended Multifamily NW’s Spectrum Educational Conference and Trade Show
on September 18th. This annual event attracts over 1200 landlords,
property managers, leasing agents, maintenance professionals, investors and
owners. Spectrum is a great event for our staff to get valuable training, face
time with vendors, and an opportunity to network with their peers. Guardian’s
Senior Community Manager Brandy Guthery was the co-chair of the event this year
and was very pleased with the turnout.
One addition to this year's event was featured speaker Colleen Kettenhoffen, an award-winning motivational speaker and former top salesperson for a Fortune 500 company. “We were really excited to bring a national
speaker on board for the beginning of the event this year. It was a great way
to kick off the event and bring everyone together before classes began,” said Guthery.
Attendance was up by about 200 people this
year. Guthery attributes this to broader class offerings.
“This year we really focused on creating a
well-rounded group of classes that would appeal to not only new employees but
also maintenance, corporate staff and upper management.”
Two of Guardian’s management staff were
tapped to share their own expertise by teaching courses. Vice President of
Human Resources Karon Paul taught a course on understanding different
personality types and how to effectively communicate with all types of people.
Director of Marketing Meghan Hill taught a course on how to maintain a
competitive edge when competition returns, focusing on staying fresh on the Internet.
Spectrum did not
disappoint this year and the Guardian Team was well represented. According to
Guthery, next year’s event is already in the planning phase. “We actually already
have next year’s theme picked out, but it’s a secret.” We can’t wait to hear
what’s in store!
