Trailside Heights in Anchorage, AK is a rare affordable gem

When developing a new apartment community, reaching the always-exciting lease-up phase brings with it a small element of trepidation. Will the community embrace this new face? We are pleased, but not surprised by the overwhelming response, and look forward to this being a great community for the residents," said Elaine Dahlgreen, Chief Executive Officer - Alaska, Volunteers of America.

Anchorage is home to a unique housing market, where the cost of living is high and the amount of available affordable housing for families is scarce. Trailside Heights addressed this demand by building larger, townhome style apartments with attached garages. The contemporary design, affordable price, desirable amenities, and fantastic location turned this development into an instant success.

"I have marketed apartments for over 35 years and have never experienced such a great response to a product. VOA is to be congratulated for their efforts in addressing affordable housing needs in Anchorage with such a fine product," said Bill Rhoten, Regional Vice President, Guardian Management.

Guardian Management began accepting applications earlier this year, finally moving in the first families on April 19, 2013. Leasing and marketing efforts have been primarily conducted online, and families are encouraged to complete online guest cards to be added to the waiting list. This method ensures all inquiries are date and time stamped in the order the guest cards are received.
